Remember when we told you that Adidas will still sell Yeezys without Ye? Well, the day seems to be drawing closer. After Adidas dropped Kanye, the Three Stripes had a lot of unreleased Yeezys on their hands. Of course, it was either to sustain major losses by not releasing them or to choose the lesser of two evils. The ultimate decision was to drop them under the Adidas banner. In other words, we’re gonna get an unbranded Yeezy soon!
What’s Up With the Unbranded Yeezy?
So we already broke down how Adidas and Ye cut ties. And we already discussed how the AdiFOM line looks eerily similar to Yeezys. But now, Adidas is taking the game to a new level with their new “Adidas 350”… Or you know, just an unbranded Yeezy 350. It’s gonna be hard not to slip and call them Yeezy 350s, no jokes. Now, what do we know about this new pair?
As far as leaks have it, the next pair by Adidas will be the 350 Granite. It basically is another grey colorway that looks like every Yeezy 350 that came before it. The side stripe will also feature the SPLY-350 branding since Adidas also owns the IP. Of course, the Boost soles will be there because Adidas surely wants to keep the “comfiest kicks” title.
So… What’s the Difference?
The only catch is that there will be no more Yeezy branding on the insole. That’s the only place it was present anyway, and it will probably be only Adidas now. And in terms of the shoe box, it will probably keep looking like the original, minus the Yeezy branding.
Release Info and Reactions to the Unbranded Yeezy
Rumor has it that the new Adidas 350 will drop in January 2023 and will retail for the usual $230. Now, opinions on the matter are very different! First, we have people who bought Yeezys simply for the sake of comfort. Those don’t really care about the exclusivity and Kanye’s creative genius, which is fair! They’ll still get to cop their favorite shoe.
Second, we have Ye’s fans who are boycotting the whole thing. And that’s also fair because… well, you all saw what went down. Finally, we have the people who are wondering why the kicks still have the price tag of $230. Everyone assumed that the kicks were more expensive than Ultraboosts ($180) because of Ye’s name behind the line. But now that Ye’s out, why not drop the price? In fact, a whole Reddit thread was debating that!
The question here remains the same after all this discussion. When the day comes when the unbranded Yeezy, or Adidas 350, drops, will it sell out? Or will it sit on the shelves and end up at outlet stores? That remains to be seen!
