Planning to Get into Sneaker Reselling? Read this first.

When you wanted to buy a sneaker back in the day, your options were few. You either stood in line for it with the crowd or made someone stand for you. If you missed out, you either had to forget all about it, or you could buy it by contacting a guy who ‘knows a guy’. And his prices weren’t cheap. Over the years, sneaker reselling has grown into a billion-dollar industry, according to Complex. There’s no lack of tech-savvy young sneakerheads out there who contributed to that. And today the competition is larger than ever, but there’s no reason you can’t join the game.

Reselling Limited Sneakers

Limited sneakers are loved for several reasons, some are:

  • The story or the legacy the sneaker represents
  • For the feeling of inclusion with the cool crowd
  • Having something not many people can have

Recently, we wrote about how reselling limited sneakers can become a long-term investmentUndoubtedly, there is money in the sneaker reselling business, or else there wouldn’t be such high demand and harsh competition to cop a pair of unique Yeezys, Jordans, or PW NMDs.

Follow Collaborations and Partnerships

Collabs and partnerships play a huge role in the success of a sneaker. Take Jordan Brand for example. For over 30 years, the Nike subsidiary made massive success by endorsing basketball legend, Michael Jordan, while still keeping things fresh on the innovations side.

In 2017 Nike worked alongside designer Virgil Abloh on a project to deconstruct and reconstruct 10 iconic Nike shoes. The result was an inside-out looking sneaker. The collaboration was a hit and the shoes were exclusive.

On the other side of the playing field at Adidas, Kanye West keeps consumers on their toes by bringing controversial streetwear designs to the table. The German company also partners up with the likes of a soccer player, David Beckham, tennis star, Stan Smith, artist, Pharrell Williams, and more.

Building A Reputation Through Sneaker Reselling

When you’re a reseller, the size of your business should be practical for the size of your collection. That means if you want your business to thrive, you need to be able to cop on every release. In this case, it makes perfect sense for you to use a sneaker bot or even several. Showing proof that you can cop even the most limited drops gives your business more credibility.

It’s important to build your business like you would any regular online business. You need to be active on social media to create your presence. That includes running campaigns to get your business noticed. You can even throw giveaways every now and then or send a free pair of sneakers to influencers who can advertise for you.

Building a relationship with your clients is important, you can give them a special price based on their needs. Moreover, you can sell two sneakers for the price of one. You can even throw in a 20% discount on their next purchase. All these little things encourage client loyalty and hence builds your reputation as a reseller.
