After recently receiving a Court Purple and Pine Green color blocking, the Air Jordan 1 is dropping again in a new colorway. This time Jordan Brand is remembering Michael Jordan’s first year with the Chicago Bulls when he received the 1985 ROY award. Specifically, the shirt he was wearing when he accepted the ROY award. The Air Jordan 1 Rookie of the Year commemorates the time Michael Jordan was named NBA’s Rookie of the Year; a booming kick-start for his legendary career.
The colorway takes inspiration from the tan shirt worn by then 22-years old Michael Jordan as he accepts his award. To be specific, this rendition features Sail, Gold Harvest, and Black throughout the leather and suede upper. Serving as a pop of color, the Nike Air branding on the tongue tab is in red.
On the inner collar flaps at the ankles, are details specific to the 1985 ROY event. On one side there is the date, name of the award, total points and points per game:
On the other side is a quote from his acceptance speech, “This award is nice, but I just feel it is very important for each individual to go out and contribute to his team.” – MJ
Inspired by MJs fit during the 1985 acceptance speech is the Air Jordan 1 Rookie of the Year.
The “Rookie of the Year” Air Jordan 1 will drop with the Holiday 2018 women’s collection, however, it is releasing in unisex sizing. This means it will be available to both the ladies and dudes.
But based StockX, some people are willing to pay up to $500 above retail for this. So keep in mind that, like every Jordan 1, people want it and it will inevitably sell out of stock. If you want it, then don’t slack off.
Expect this to drop via Nike and Jordan Brand retailers. With the right tools for the job, you can try copping them from footsites with Nike Shoe Bot.
