Somewhere on the world wide web, there is a website and an app. That app is all about discussions, memes, controversial opinions, technology, and much more. You don’t need to be an influencer or a celebrity to have a voice there. In fact, anonymity is key on Reddit! And when NFTs became all the rage, we totally waited for a Reddit NFT collection. So, when the Cryptosnoos dropped, everyone wanted in on that! After all, Reddit isn’t a stranger to online transactions and even the sneaker industry. So let’s check it all out together!
Before we get into the crypto side of things, we wanna introduce Snoo, the Reddit mascot. It’s a little cute alien that one of Reddit’s co-founders doodled as a college student. Why an alien? Well, even the person who created Snoo doesn’t know. He just likes the idea of a time-traveling alien! And the name, Snoo, is to appease the other Reddit overlords because they originally wanted to call the site Snoo instead of Reddit. You can read all about that here! So let’s get one thing straight. Reddit is the hub for all the nerds out there (we should know) who are looking for their niche. Whether it’s movies, books, tech, art, anime, or anything really, there’s something for everyone. This is why it makes sense that in 2021, Reddit hopped on the (virtual) NFT bandwagon and dropped CyptoSnoos.
CryptoSnoos are our favorite mascots in different fits. You can find them on Reddit’s Avatar Builder, where you can build a free avatar to use on your account! However, to acquire a CryptoSnoo, you’ll need to connect your crypto wallet to Reddit or create a vault. Now, the Reddit NFT CryptoSnoos come in different rarities! The three options are: rare (limited edition), epic (extremely limited edition), and legendary (1-of-1).
So far, only 4 CryptoSnoos are out, and they’re expensive. In fact, the floor price of the Reddit NFT collection is 84 ETH ($102,151 at the time we wrote this piece). The market cap of the collection is 336 ETH (approx. $408,604). And well that’s how the creators describe these four NFTs:
“These CryptoSnoos are fragmented, abstracted, impressionistic, futuristic folk and modern (post and pre), and definitely enlightened (but in an avant-garde, neo-classical contemporary kind of way). Plus, they’re just kind of cute.”
The perks that come with these NFTs are pretty cool. You can use the CryptoSnoo as your avatar, and Reddit will make sure people know that you own one. However, if you don’t wanna pay thousands of dollars for a Snoo, you can buy a Collectible Avatar!
These are exclusive avatars that you can purchase, trade, mix-and-match with. Different creators are dropping collections on the platform, and you can shop there! And if you happen to be a creator, you can join a waitlist for Reddit to feature you. You can use your local currency to pay for those. Although Reddit supports crypto. It actually supports Bitcoin since 2013!
Given that the platform existed pre-NFT and pre-crypto, we’d say that investing in CryptoSnoos isn’t a bad idea!
