Nothing plays on our sneakerhead heartstrings more than athlete collaborations. And nobody does that better than Jordan Brand and Nike Skateboarding. Today, we’re going for the latter with a collab that will certainly steal every skater’s heart. You see, the collab we’re about to discuss is from a young skater for all the skaters out there! The Rayssa Leal SB Dunk is one of the kicks that will make heads turn for sure. So, let’s take a look at what Leal and Nike SB cooked up for us, shall we?
Our story starts with a video of a 7-year-old girl in a fairy costume landing a heelflip on her skateboard. That video went viral and got the skateboarding community talking about her. The girl in question turned out to be the Brazilian Rayssa Leal, who started skateboarding when she was 6! From there on, the only way to go was up for the young skater. At almost 16 years old, Leal is an Olympic silver medalist, two-time X-games gold medalist, and more! So, of course, the Nike SB division didn’t miss a beat and recruited Leal as an athlete.
Before we get into the upcoming signature pair, we gotta mention that this is not Leal’s first shoe. In fact, her first signature pair was the Nike SB Verona Slip! However, the upcoming Rayssa Leal SB Dunk is definitely the highlight of her endorsement. And looks-wise, it’s obvious that SB Dunks would always win. So, here are all the design details that make the kicks extra special!
Let’s start with the obvious, these babies feature a white leather base with smiley face embossings. The beige suede overlays complement the base and have their own texture. While this is enough to make the kicks stand out, the blue and pink swooshes are a nod to how skateboarding is for both boys and girls!
Now, let’s get to the cool details! First off, the heel area features a pink R (for Rayssa) in a fairy design as a nod to her viral video. Moreover, three smiley face lace jewels add some style to the kicks. Finally, the insoles are mismatched in blue and pink, and have the same signature smiley face all over! The kicks will also come with white, pink, and blue laces so you can customize them however you like. So all in all, the pair is edgy and stylish, just like the skater who lent her name to them!
According to rumors, the Rayssa Leal SB Dunk Low will drop on March 20, 2024, for $125. Naturally, you can make some nice profit from the pair because you can flip it for up to $350. So, if you want a head start on the competition, you’ll need to have a sneaker bot by your side! But don’t go looking too far, because NSB is the only all-in-one bot you’ll require.
