You probably had enough of everyone and everything talking about Panda Dunks, right? I mean, everyone and their mother wore them at some point. So today, we’re gonna take a look at the history of these shoes and how it all went down. Oh, and the news that they’re coming back once again? They’re totally true! Now, let’s take a look at the kicks, their past, and their future! Let’s find out all there is to know about these sneakers. But if you’re looking for something more, check out our blog for all the sneaker and botting news you need! Now, back to the Panda Dunks.
The best place to start a story is always the beginning of it all. So, let’s begin with the original release date of the Panda Dunks: March 10, 2021. The thing is, nobody knew what a big deal these Pandas would be until the kicks dropped. Everyone wanted a pair, and the resale value of these babies was pretty high! In fact, it actually got to $300+, which is more than 2x the original retail price. You see, the Panda Dunk was one of the most popular colorways at a time when Dunks were falling behind. They were a status sign among collectors and sneakerheads.
This popularity though, was relatively short-lived because Nike knew that the Panda Dunks would sell. So, what does the Swoosh do? It restocks the kicks! And well, they didn’t restock it once or twice. Oh, no. They actually restocked the kicks four times during 2022 alone! The kicks dropped on the following dates: February 2, April 22, August 11, and September 16, 2022. And while one restock is usually fine-ish, four are for sure gonna oversaturate the market.
While 2022’s restocks should’ve been enough, it seems like Nike produced more kicks than they could sell. And well, it seems like 2023 is an extension of the previous year. Why? Because we got another re-release on August 25, 2023! And well, it seems like the brand is not done with the kicks. Why? Because the Panda Dunks will drop, once again, on September 26, 2023. They will retail, just like the OG drop, for $110. Now, what does that mean for the value of the kicks and the demand?
Okay, so, for the average sneakerhead who just wants a pair of beaters, the Panda Dunks are perfect. You see, they’ll either cop the kicks for retail or buy them off the resale market for $154 on average. Now, when it comes to hype, the kicks were the pair to have at some point. Every collector wanted the Panda Dunks because of the hype. But things kinda lose their appeal when everybody has them. And that’s always the case with sneakers!
All this info kinda makes you wonder: why is Nike so adamant about bringing this specific colorway back? In a way, it makes sense, especially since there’s always someone to cop these kicks as long as they’re available. And we get it, the Panda Dunks are now almost as classic as kicks like the white Air Force 1s! So, if you’re looking for a new pair of beaters, the Pandas are a great option. Just make sure you know how to get these kicks (or any kicks) for retail! Godspeed.
