Nike Changes Kids’ Shoe Size Charts & Prices Will Change!

We love sneaker shopping, we really do. But sometimes the sizes and the prices can get too overwhelming. And if you have a shoe size that can pass across several age groups, it gets even more confusing. So far, sneaker brands have been pretty consistent with their sizing groups. However, Nike introduced its new size chart for kids’ sneakers, and people don’t know how to feel about it. So, what exactly did they do, and how will that affect sales and prices? Let’s find out together, shall we?

Nike Kids Shoe Size Chart Change – What’s Up?

Okay, so there are three different categories that fall under the kids’ sizing chart. We have the Little Kids, aka Pre-School (PS) and Toddler (TD) sizes. And then, we have the Big Kids section that includes the Grade School (GS) sizes. Now, the old sizing system was the following:

  • TD: 1C – 7C
  • PS: 8C – 13.5C & 1Y – 3Y
  • GS: 3.5Y – 7Y

The problem with this sizing is that there was an overlap in sizes between the little kids and big kids sizes. So, to avoid this problem, Nike implemented a new chart that is pretty straightforward. The new chart will look like this:

  • TD: 2C – 7C
  • PS: 8C – 13.5C
  • GS: 1Y – 7Y

In other words, the charts will stop having this “confusing” overlap according to the Swoosh. However, this kinda means that something else will change when you go shopping for kiddie kicks. That would be the price of these babies!

Is Money the Lowkey Motivation?

Alright, we know that this new chart is easier on the eyes and the minds of the shoppers. But here’s the kicker, the 1Y-3Y sizes used to retail according to the Pre-School prices. Now though, they’re gonna retail for the full price of GS shoes. For example, a pair of size 2Y used to retail for $65-$75 depending on the pair. Now, it’s gonna retail for $85-$90! So that’s easily a $20 gap in prices. And let’s be real, not everyone can afford that all the time. But who knows?
