The NFT industry is here to stay, and if you didn’t get in back when it started, you eventually might. Lots of brands and celebrities jumped on board without looking back. However, the crypto crash followed by a crypto crash certainly made lots of people hit the brakes. But that didn’t dishearten the Swoosh. Why? Because in addition to Dot Swoosh, Nike is working hard through RTFKT Studios. And the latest project we’re getting will include the Murakami Air Force 1 in both NFT and physical forms! And here’s everything you should know about that.
Nike and the Metaverse – A Success Story?
When Nike ventured into the virtual world of crypto and NFTs, it did it well. Instead of starting from scratch, the brand acquired RTFKT Studios! You see, RTFKT had already established itself as a power in the NFT medium. So naturally, it was go big or go home for the Swoosh! Now, we got some dope drops from Nike, with a whole independent Nike universe. Because why not?
And in 2023, .Swoosh will bring a brand new Web3 project to life: the Our Force 1 Collection. This collection has been in the works since 2022 and now’s the time for another step in the project. But what did Nike do exactly? First, Nike launched a tournament to decide between the best colorways of AF1 in celebration of the silhouette’s 40th anniversary. Second, .Swoosh hosted a design contest for digital AF1s. The winners got multiple prizes like $5000 and royalties for their design when it sells!
So, after finishing all the steps of prepping, .Swoosh is bringing the project to life seemingly soon. Although they didn’t mention a date, they released a full guide on how things are gonna go down. You can check it out in detail right here. But if you’re too impatient for this release, then the Murakami Air Force 1 is exactly what you need.
Murakami Air Force 1
Things are gonna get physical for the first time since Takashi Murakami started his virtual partnership with Nike and RTFKT! We’re already familiar with the contemporary artist’s work on projects like CloneX and the first Air Force 1 NFT collection. However, 2023 is a little different because NFT owners will have the chance to physically own the kicks!
So the NFTs are already rare enough as it is. In fact, the Murakami Air Force 1 versions “Murakami Drip” and “Murakami DNA” are only available in 4,349 copies in total. And now, the owners will have the opportunity to forge their virtual copy for a physical pair. The forging window will be between April 24 and May 8. So, if you want in on this awesome event, you have two options! You can either buy the NFT off a marketplace or wait till the physical babies go on resale platforms. For the first option, you’ll have to forge the kicks yourself. But for the second, you probably gotta pay up. Good luck!
