Winning the NBA championship is no small feat, let alone three times in a row. Now, when discussing three-peats, we always have the Chicago Bulls on our minds. And well, two three-peats certainly make a team memorable. That’s why when the pair that gave MJ his first three-peat makes a comeback, you better believe we’d be stoked! You see, Jordan 8 Playoffs is making its comeback for the first time in ten years. So, here’s everything you need to know about the return of the OGs! And just in case you’re new around here, this sneaker terminology guide will come in handy today.
When we talk about championship sneakers, Jordan championship kicks take center stage. After all, Michael Jordan is one of the greatest players to ever grace basketball courts. Naturally, this legacy reflected itself in the success of the Air Jordan line. And the most popular shoes are the ones associated with a cool story. Now, what if we told you that story is the 1993 NBA championship? Exactly.
Michael Jordan stepped into the 1993 playoffs wearing a new pair of black and red kicks. After the Bulls won their third consecutive ring, the kicks became known as the Jordan 8 Playoffs. Although Jordan wore these babies during the playoffs, they never caught fire like other silhouettes. However, real sneakerheads know how valuable the Jordan 8 Playoffs are beyond the monetary gain. But you know… resale profit doesn’t sound bad either.
So, the OG Jordan 8 Playoffs first dropped back in 1993, making 2023 the silhouette’s 30th anniversary. However, we did get a few retros throughout the year. In 2003, Jordan Brand dropped a low-top version of the kicks. Meanwhile, in 2007 and 2013, we got two high-top retros. The only difference these babies have from the OGs was the heel tab. While the OG heel tab came in red, the two retros were black. So, in conclusion, we never got the exact same pair as the 1993 OG.
Jordan 8 Playoffs will drop on September 30, 2023, and will retail for $210. You know, just your average Jordan retail price. Now, while the kicks are alone worth copping for the sentimental value, there’s more to that. You see, you can flip these babies for up to $500+ in resale. But make sure you know where to flip them for the maximum profit! Now, how can you score a pair of AJ8 Playoffs or more?
As usual, Jordan 8 Playoffs will drop on the Nike SNKRS app and at select retailers. Now, you can go for this or that, but we recommend trying your luck on both!
