Jordan 2 UNC Low – Once a Tar Heel, Always a Tar Heel!

If you know your Air Jordan history, then you know how important UNC is to Michael Jordan. In fact, we got many silhouettes in the official University of North Carolina colors. And in 2023, Jordan Brand is expanding the list of UNC Jordans! The upcoming Jordan 2 UNC Low is not only a tribute to the university but also a specific game. So what is this drop all about? And why is it worth buying? Read on to find all that out, and then some more! But just in case you’re looking for something else (or more), check our blog out for the latest sneaker news.

In 1987, There Was a PE…

Did you know that after 3 years of his NBA debut, MJ went back and wore the UNC uniform one last time? If you didn’t, allow us to tell you about it all! So, the year is 1987, and MJ ain’t a rookie anymore. And his Bulls contract allowed him to play pick-up games outside the league. That was the infamous “For the Love of the Game” clause. Anyway, in 1987, Michael Jordan showed up to the UNC vs UCLA Alumni game and helped the Tar Heels swoop a 116-111 win. (You can watch snippets of the game here.)

But that’s not everything we wanted to discuss, because we’re sneakerheads (duh). Since MJ signed his Nike deal in 1984, then it was a no-brainer to show up wearing a pair of Js! And if you’re good with dates, then you know that 1987 was the year Jordan 2 was in the spotlight. On that specific game though, MJ showed up with a white and blue Jordan 2 Low PE. And this is where it gets interesting because the public never got to cop these babies. But that’s happily about to change with the Jordan 2 UNC Low release!

Jordan 2 UNC Low – One of the Best AJ2 Colorways?

Let’s be honest here, the Jordan 2 silhouette was probably never anyone’s favorite. However, Jordan Brand certainly went out of its way to bring back AJ2 into the culture. And well, they did deliver some hot collaborations like the Unions, Nina Chanel Abney, and more! However, we can rarely find a non-OG colorway worth the money. The Jordan 2 UNC Low definitely is worth it though!

Release Info

The upcoming Jordan 2 UNC will drop on July 8, 2023, and will retail for $150. And these babies will definitely be worth the investment. You can actually flip them for about $300 on average in resale! So at a value of 2x the original price tag, you can make some decent profit. It also could be a small but good start to your sneaker resale business. But before you take this leap, make sure you really wanna be a sneaker reseller.
