Following up on last year’s Year of the Rabbit collection, Nike and Jordan Brand are back with another festive shoe! This year, they’ll celebrate the Chinese New Year with a dragon-themed Jordan 1 Low. Honestly, they never disappoint with these releases, because the Jordan 1 Year of the Dragon is a true gem! And speaking of festive kicks, did you check out all the Halloween kicks that are coming soon? Now, back to our CNY release and everything you should know about it!
Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is the most important holiday in China. It is celebrated on the first day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar, which usually falls between late January and early February. The holiday is a time for families to gather together and celebrate the start of the new year. It’s also a time to honor ancestors and pray for good luck and prosperity in the coming year.
Some of the key traditions of Chinese New Year include giving and receiving red envelopes filled with money, which Nike nailed with their envelope packaging of the Jordan 1 Year of the Dragon sneaker. But we’ll get to that if you keep reading. Anyway, it’s a perfect gift for a blissful holiday where family and friends meet, laugh, eat, and flex their dragon-inspired kicks! And speaking of family and cultural traditions, Nike Dia De Muerto took things to a new level this year.
The Jordan 1 Year of the Dragon is a great representation of the Chinese Year of the Dragon. The kicks draw inspo from the holiday with the upper that features oil-green, sail green, burgundy red, gold, silver, and white. The green leather perfectly symbolizes the skin of a dragon while the red and gold reflect the Chinese festivities. Silver is the cherry on top adding a contrast to Gold and complimenting the white canvas.
Nike really tapped into the well of creativity for this one! You see, they created a very interesting logo that fuses the Jumpman with a dragon. The inner side of the tongue features the same pattern! For the hang tag, they opted for a more abstract variation of this logo in Silver. As a final touch, this pair comes in a special Year of the Dragon-themed box.
Air Jordan 1 Year of the Dragon will drop on January 24, 2024, and will retail for $160! Although there is no resale info yet, we can take a wild guess and say that these babies will be worth it. Why? Because previous CNY Jordan 1 Lows were certainly worth every penny. For example, 2023’s Jordan 1 Low Year of the Rabbit is doing very very well on the resale market! So if the Dragon AJ1 Lows are anything like the Rabbit 1s, you’re in for a treat!
Now, the Jordan 1 Year of the Dragon will drop on Nike SNKRS and at select retailers. But to be honest, it doesn’t really matter where it drops! Why? Because if you got NSB, you got your share of the stock. With NSB’s latest success numbers on Shopify and Nike, you can bet your whole sneaker collection that you’re copping!
But if you try to get it manually… well it most certainly won’t work. You will end up a victim of secondary market prices where you could pay double and even triple the retail price. So don’t risk your win and make sure you have the true and best all-in-one sneaker bot on your side. Godspeed!
