Today’s sneakers will hit differently, especially if you’re a foodie who likes a good beverage. Just like music and movies, sneaker brands are no strangers to awesome collabs with food and beverage companies. And in 2023, Nike is joining arms with Mexico’s favorite soft drink company: Jarritos! Will this collaboration live up to everyone’s expectations? There’s only one way to find out. Let’s take a look at the upcoming Jarritos Nike Dunk and why it’s worth the attention the industry’s giving it!
“¡Jarritos, qué buenos son!” is the original 1950 Jarritos slogan that still means the same today: they’re so good! And well, they have to be so good to get this popular. So the company was founded back in 1950 by Don Francisco “El Güero” Hill. And Jarritos means “little jugs” in Spanish. That’s a reference to the tradition of drinking water and other drinks from jugs to keep them cool.
Jarritos is famous for its awesome range of fruity flavors and being less carbonated than other soft drinks. And today, the drink is still popular in Mexico and even the US. So naturally, when you’re this popular (and fun if we may say), you will attract collaborators. In fact, Jarritos already has an NFT collection called Bones. But the collaborator we’re most excited about is Nike! So what’s up with the Jarritos Nike Dunk?
So the upcoming Jarritos Nike Dunk is everything you might expect from a collab like that. The design, at first sight, is pretty simple. It starts with a white base and hemp overlays with co-branding of course. However, that’s not where the fun stops, because the hemp part is terrible and will reveal an orange layer! Even the green swoosh is tearable too with orange underlays. Finally, the look is complete with an orange and green outsole, the signature Jarritos colors!
After lots of teases and leaks, we finally have a release date! The kicks will supposedly drop on May 6, 2023. They will retail for $130 and so far, you can flip them for around $564. In other words, whether you wanna cop for the flip or the flex, these babies are certainly worth the effort. But if you wanna rock them Jarritos Dunks, you’ll wanna catch your Dunk size and style it right, and you can’t do that if you take the L. Sooo, how can you not take Ls and possibly cop more than just one pair?
Update: Although initial leaks mentioned a May 6 potential release, new rumors have something else to say. The latest news are stating that the kicks will drop on May 10, 2023. Regardless, you should be ready with the right equipment to jump into action fast!
