There’s a fine line between the perfect collab and trying way too hard. Luckily, Jordan Brand seems to know which cards to play. Now, gaming sneakers have been around for a while, but Fortnite Jordans just hit different! Although we’re familiar with the real-life swag, we wanna see what JB brought to the Fortnite table. That’s why we’re gonna go through the history of virtual kicks right now. And speaking of the digital world, the sneaker industry is seriously making its way to the metaverse!
First off, we’re gonna start by saying that no, the latest collab is definitely not the first. The first Fortnite Jordans actually date back to May 2019. The sneakerheads-slash-gamers got a treat through an awesome addition to Fortnite. We first got a pretty cool Brooklyn-inspired downtown area. You could take a stroll there, complete challenges, and eventually win cool stuff. The most interesting bit though is that the whole theme is skateboarding and not basketball. But really, the skins and kicks were pretty cool, so shall we check them out?
The classic of classics, and it just makes sense to start the collab with this colorway. Otherwise, is it really a proper Fortnite Jordans collab? The kicks came with the matching skins, so for the money you’re putting in, you’ll get the whole fit! You know, match the virtual drip to real life, right?
We already mentioned that the whole collab is actually about skateboarding instead of basketball. Don’t let that put you off though, because Jordan Brand dropped a really cool crossover with Nike SB! Jordan 1 Defiant SB features all the looks we love about the AJ1s, with the mighty SB cushioning. And the kicks came in not one, but two colorways.
“NYC to Paris” came in a grey and white upper that rubs off with time to reveal awesome pink shades. On the other hand, the “LA to Chicago” Fortnite Jordans highlight the Lakers vs Bulls rivalry! The main upper comes in signature purple and yellow Lakers colors. However, the paint wears off to reveal the awesome Chicago colorway we all love!
Okay so, Fortnite Jordans are already pretty cool. But if you had the chance to make it even better, why not? And the best way to do that is by bringing a pretty lit celebrity into the equation! So let’s check out who these celebs are.
Why settle for a mainstream collab when you can break the internet with the biggest virtual concert? The performance actually broke the previous year’s Marshmello record of 10.7 million attendees. 12 million people attended the Astroworld party! That’s not all though, because Fortnite dropped a Travis Scott emote that’s wearing his signature AJ1 Highs. However, following the Astroworld 2021 tragedy, the game pulled the emote from the store. You could still wear the Travis skin though!
Mo’ colors, mo’ colors! The Latino star sure has a colorful vibe to him that he perfectly put into the Js. This collab is among the latest, and it launched in August 2021! In addition to skins, you could buy an emote, music, and do a lot of activities. The highlight of that collab though are the colorful Fortnite Jordans you could get with the J Balvin skin!
Last but not least, debuting just on December 1, 2021, the Jumpman Zone brought Fortnite Jordans to life! And this time, it’s all about basketball peeps. So once again, game recognizes game, and we have a full event on our hands with awesome prizes. From a basketball court to a museum, to an immersive experience with the Cool Grey 11s, we have it all! So if you were thinking about giving the game a shot, now’s the time homie.
