Legend has it that the SB in Nike SB stands for Sandy Bodecker, the godfather of the Nike skateboarding division. And 2022 happens to be the 20th anniversary of this same division! So you can imagine how nostalgic the celebration would be, especially since the skateboard community lost Sandy in 2018. But what we didn’t expect is the comeback of the legendary eBay Dunks! And it’s not coming back randomly, the release will be arguably one of the most popular this year. So let’s take a look at what we should expect and what made the eBay Dunks this epic!

SB – Sandy Bodecker and Skateboard Go Hand in Hand!

In 1982, Sandy Bodecker joined Nike back in 1982 as a footwear tester. However, because of his awesome personality and enthusiasm for skateboarding, he climbed up the corporate ladder! In fact, when the skateboarding division at Nike launched, he was spearheading the project. The division gave us so many epic sneakers that we can barely remember them all, but one will always stand out: the eBay Dunks.

So in 2003, Nike SB was barely a year old. And it partnered up with eBay on a legendary pair that got auctioned. (Auctions seem to be a recurring theme with Nike!) However, it wasn’t an ordinary pair because it was a one-of-one, aka a pair that has no other like it! All the profits from that auction went to the Tim Brauch Foundation and skateparks in Portland, Oregon. Little did anyone know that Sandy Bodecker himself was the unsung here who drove the price up!

In fact, he ended up winning the auction, and he owned the chopped-up 1-of-1 as well as the intact pair! However, that information didn’t come out until he announced it to the world on his Instagram account in 2018.

And in 2022, the eBay Dunks Are Back for the Masses!

Let’s just get it out there guys, the eBay Dunks reached legendary status easily since 2003. The hype goes beyond the colorway and collab. It’s just a collective dream among skaters and sneakerheads now. And when news got out that the kicks are actually getting a general release, the crowds went wild! But that’s not even the coolest bit about the release. The actual kicks will have transparent panels between the sections as a jab at the original pair! Meanwhile, the insoles will feature pictures of Sandy Bodecker as a tribute to the OG SB.

When the brands officially announced the partnership, our sneakerhead hearts could barely handle the excitement. However, if you want the royal treatment, you gotta head out to this eBay page. Release Info

Bids will stay open until December 14, 2022, with all the profits going to the Bodecker Foundation. As for the general release, it will take place on December 15, 2022, at skate shops, with a Nike SNKRS release to follow on December 17, 2022. These babies will retail for $130, and they’re worth every penny. You can keep the eBay Dunks, flip them for $441 on average, or both! But keep in mind that this number could hike up with time!
