The City of Angels comes once again to the front of the sneaker industry. This time, two brands co-signed the hype: Nike SB and Born x Raised. And if any brand is gonna deliver the essence of LA’s culture, it’s what BXR’s been doing since 2011. From the dramatic old English fonts to the bold graphics, it’s everything. And if there’s anything we like, it’s a brand with a cause! So naturally, a brand like that wouldn’t escape Nike’s radar. From Jarritos to Crenshaw Skate Club, the Born x Raised Dunks is a new addition to 2023’s hot SB Dunks.
Update 9/23/2023: After news of the indefinite delay of the release, Born x Raised dropped the bomb on Instagram! The brand dropped a simple picture that said “On the turf” with co-branding. And the caption that simply said 9.28.23 sealed the deal! After that initial post, the brand dropped multiple posts to tease the collaboration. You see, the kicks will drop in raffle form on the Born x Raised website! However, we can expect a Nike SNKRS drop to follow soon after. So keep it locked on our blog for the latest news!
Update 7/28/2023: Following the untimely passing of Born x Raised founder Chris “Spanto” Printup in a car accident, Nike SB postponed the release of the kicks. That decision came out of respect for Spanto, his family, and his loved ones. Stay tuned though, because gems like these will eventually come out in his memory. And you’ll wanna cop for that too.
Since its inception in 2011, BXR fought the gentrification of LA neighborhoods. And how do you preserve the identity of places like this? Through art. So, the brand became an apparel label with a message. Naturally, brands with a cause always catch the attention of companies like Nike. And in 2023, the Born x Raised Dunks are certainly one of the year’s best catches! Let’s check them out together!
These babies might be blocks, but they sure as heck aren’t bricks. The Born x Raised Dunks feature a clean blue and white color-blocking. But that’s not what we’re here for, it’s the details that convinced us that these are must-haves. The swoosh on the sides is holographic, and so is the heel branding. Meanwhile, the toe box perforations come in the shape of diamonds along with upper eyelets.
That’s not all though, because the kicks feature co-branding on the tongue and the insoles. These same insoles also feature a blurry picture of LA streets. The front of the kicks features embroidery of BxR’s slogan “One Block At a Time”. And the side of the heel features an interesting pink embroidery… the same pink that appears on the translucent outsole. Finally, the two sets of laces (blue and white) have a 3D print that says “In Loving Memory”.
If these sneakers are a feeling, it’s 90s nostalgia. And you can get your own share of nostalgia on July 21, 2023, for $130. However, the kicks are worth $586 on average on resale. You know what that means? It means that you won’t be the only one trying to buy the kicks. From sneakerheads to fans of the brand and sneaker resellers, everyone wants in on this drop.
Don’t worry though, because the solution to your little dilemma is within reach! All you have to do is get a good Nike bot. A Nike SNKRS bot can boost your chances of catching Ws on drop day. But why limit yourself to Nike SNKRS when you can own an all-in-one bot that supports all kinds of sites? That’s where NSB3 comes in. Check this out to find out why it’s everything you can ever need in a sneaker bot! And if you wanna learn about the industry in general, our blog is here for you! Godspeed.
