2022 is cause for so many anniversary celebrations in the sneaker industry! And today, we’re celebrating a classic that everyone has either heard of or owns a pair of. The Nike Air Max 97 Silver Bullet is the unforgettable OG that everyone wants a piece of. So we’re gonna check out its entire history today, along with the upcoming release before the year ends! And in case you’re trying to get into a celebratory mood, Jordan’s holiday lineup will set you right up. Now, brace yourself for a cool trip through memory lane and news of the future!
Imagine this. The year is 1997, and Nike is thinking of the next Air Max design. But then comes Christian Tresser with his Air Max 97 design. There are so many things to love about these kicks, including the inspiration behind every element there. We’re not gonna leave you wondering though because we’re gonna break it all down right now!
First off, we have to acknowledge that the 97 was the first silhouette to rock a full-length visible Air unit. And we kinda owe all the cool stuff that followed to this innovative sneaker tech! Second, the way Tresser puts it, the upper design takes inspiration from water ripples in a pond. And finally, the legendary silver finishing is inspired by Japan’s bullet trains and the finishing on mountain bikes.
You would think that awesome and popular kicks like Air Max 97 Silver Bullet would get more retros, but nope! The only times we got a legit retro of them were in 2010, 2013, and 2017. That might sound like a lot of retros, but can you ever have enough Silver Bullets? It’s the cool people’s shoe after all!
That’s why the kicks got so many iterations beside the original style. Nike experimented with the same design on different soles and country exclusives like the Italy version here. But the retro that takes the cake, is the luxurious collaborative Air Max 97 Silver Bullet x Swarovski. These babies retailed for $400, and they’re worth $900+ in resale today! Talk about luxury.
For the silhouette’s 25th anniversary, it only makes sense to have a retro of the OG colorway. And fortunately for us all, that’s exactly what Nike decided to do! The sneakers are a physical representation of the saying “If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.” They’re sticking to the OG design and everything will be exactly the same, and we couldn’t ask for more!
So whether you wanna cop for the first time or replace a tired pair, these babies will drop on November 11, 2022. They’ll retail for $180, and they’re gonna be worth it on so many levels. In addition to the flex right you’ll earn, the sneakers’ resale value will increase in time! You can obviously see that with the previous editions, so fingers crossed!
So these babies will be dropping on Nike SNKRS and at select retailers. So if you wanna try your luck on either, make sure you have the right help! Whether it’s an all-in-one bot or a Nike bot, make sure you choose the best one for you. It all depends on your budget, your needs, and so on.
If you want the best of both worlds, a sneaker bot like NSB would totally come in handy. It supports 100+ Shopify sites, Footsites, YS, Supreme, and even retail sites! So for $349/year, the bot is definitely a catch. And if you’re worried about staying up-to-date, well… let’s just say that big things are coming! Godspeed
