So, What Went Down Between Nike and Tom Sachs?
Well, our story starts in 2023 when several allegations were made against Tom Sachs. Some of these complaints included Nike employees who worked on his projects with him. We’re gonna keep it short, but you can read all about it in detail here. Naturally, Nike went under scrutiny because the public wanted to say what the brand would do. So, the result was that Nike dropped the partnership a couple of months later in May 2023. However, this breakup didn’t last too long, because in October 2024, Nike announced that the Nike Craft line was back! They also announced that 2025 projects are underway, and well, here we are.
Tom Sachs Nike Mars Yard 3.0 – The Trilogy
Okay so, we knew that the partnership was coming back, but now we actually know what’s coming our way! The Tom Sachs Nike Mars Yard 3.0 marks the third installment of the Mars Yard line. Design-wise, the kicks aren’t too different from the two previous installations. The color blocking is still the same with the off-white mesh base, suede brown overlays, and red details.
However, the details here are different. You see, the biggest addition to these babies is the black TPU toecap. Moreover, the tongue pull tab is now longer and it serves as a lace keeper now! Now, all in all, the kicks look pretty cool, and they are living up to their predecessors! And if they’re worth anything close to the 1.0 and 2.0, the Tom Sachs Nike Mars Yard 3.0 will be a massive success.
