In case you missed it:
Cypher’s Pick – Off-White MoMA Air Force 1
So, in the spirit of the holiday season, we hit Cypher up (he’s a pretty busy guy), and asked him what shoe he would add to his Christmas wishlist. Of course, never the one to turn down some sneaker talk, that’s what he said:
“I’d choose the Off-White x Nike ‘MoMA’ AF1s—they’re rare, wearable art with a clean black and silver style that nails my vibe while bridging street and high culture. They’re also minimalist and effortlessly stylish. The MoMA AF1s are not just sneakers; they’re a piece of Virgil’s legacy, blending street and high culture in a clean black and silver design that fits me perfectly.”
A Little Sneaker Background for Those Who Missed It
Virgil Abloh certainly left his mark on the sneaker and streetwear industries. He made high-end fashion look like something you could wear on a daily basis, closing the gap between the markets. His untimely passing certainly left a gap in the industry that nobody else would fill. However, he left a solid legacy of sneakers that includes the Off-White MoMA Air Force 1!
These babies were a special edition of the iconic collaborative Off-White Air Force 1. And they were exclusive to New York City’s Museum of Modern Art, aka MoMA. The kicks dropped in January 2017 and retailed for $175. But today, they sell for up to $6,000 on the resale market. So yes, we totally agree with Cypher – the kicks are a work of art! A very expensive one at that. Now, if you’re looking for something more budget-friendly, our blog has it all covered. Godspeed!
