Daishin Sugano is a sneakerhead who once purchased a pair of sneakers that turned out to be fake. This inspired him and Eddy Lu to start GOAT in 2015 as an online sneaker marketplace. The goal was to have a platform that authenticates purchases to make sure what happened to Sugano didn’t happen to other sneakerheads. And well, they were pretty successful. In fact, the company grew so much that in 2018, GOAT Group acquired Flight Club! For reference, Flight Club is the consignment store to go to for expensive and rare kicks. Now, how legit is GOAT?

Definitely yes. Actually, GOAT is one of the most trustworthy platforms when it comes to solid sneaker authentication. Of course, there will always be dupes that will fall through the cracks, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not a good platform. You see, in their buy protection policy, GOAT states that if you do receive an inauthentic item, you can submit a request. If you do and the item turns out to be actually fake, you will get a refund in the form of GOAT credit. And if you want a refund on your card, you can simply send that in a request.
