Not to sound too eager for drama, but we love it when the tea brews in the industry. You see, nothing drives hype and change like competition and petty moves honestly. And today, we have some hot gossip that got everyone talking about double standards, cheap shots, and so on. So, let’s check out why No Bull is catching fire from the public after they fired shots at Nike! Whoever tells you that the sneaker industry is boring certainly isn’t following the news, right? Anyway, let’s see what went down and what people think of the whole ordeal, shall we?
No Bull Targets Nike Ex-Employees & Tries to Hire Them!
So, the date is July 9, 2024. Sounds like a pretty normal day to be a sneakerhead right? Well, news of a round of Nike layoffs broke out. And we’re not really surprised since their stock drop seems to require some internal changes. So, these layoffs made up about 2% of the total Nike workforce. However, another brand tried to hop in on the action and fire some shots. You see, No Bull didn’t waste any time and went all out on their socials.
After the news of the Nike layoffs, No Bull took to X (previously Twitter) to offer hiring opportunities to the laid-off employees. According to the brand “When one door closes, another one opens – and our doors at NOBULL are always open.” They also went on to announce that they’re working on a new project with Tom Brady and Mike Repole. This explains their need for new talent. You can check out the full announcement here. However, the reaction of the public was pretty interesting!
Here’s Why People Think No Bull’s Post Is… Bull
So, No Bull attacked Nike, but the Swoosh didn’t reply, it was the public that rose to the occasion. It wasn’t in Nike’s defense, but people called out No Bull on their hypocrisy. You see, just last year, No Bull laid off 75 employees, which is roughly 35% of their workforce. This kinda puts into perspective why people are calling the brand out for their hypocrisy.
However, it seems like things are changing for No Bull. While it kicked off as a CrossFit-focused brand, its contract with CrossFit ended in 2023. Starting 2024, the official shoe of the Games is GoRuck! Meanwhile, No Bull seems to be expanding and deviating from just CrossFit kicks into runners and generally workout-friendly sneakers.
Now, this whole social media stunt is nothing new in the world of sneakers. Really, some petty stuff went down many times before. And if you wanna stay up-to-date when it comes to sneaker news, our blog has it all. From kicks to how to get them for retail, we can help you elevate your game. Godspeed!
