The Nike x Reebok Crossfit War – A Recap
So, the year is 2015, and Reebok has been the official CrossFit brand for five years. And if you know anything about CF, it’s how much they love their rules. They certainly have a knack for legal drama the way Nike does. But on this rare occasion, Nike was at the receiving end of a ban from CrossFit Inc. You see, in 2015, Nike’s Metcon was banned from the Crossfit Games! But we all know that Nike’s strength resides in their mastery of storytelling and weaving new stories.
So, in a pretty cheeky response, Nike dropped a new colorway of the Nike Metcon 1… the Banned colorway. That colorway was a reference to Michael Jordan’s first shoe, which started a legacy. The Jordan 1 Banned was a pivotal point in the history of Air Jordans and the value they hold today. So, when we got the Nike Metcon 1 Banned, it was a pretty obvious dig at authority. Moreover, the Swoosh advertised the kicks on a huge billboard outside the Carson arena where the games were happening. That billboard featured the following iconic line: Don’t Ban Our Shoe. Beat Our Shoe. And if that’s not shade, we don’t know what is.
Now, if you thought the drama ends there, boooy you’re wrong. Although the official CrossFit x Reebok deal ended in 2020, the tension between the brands lives on. So, in 2024, in true petty fashion, Reebok bit back with their Nano x4 ad! In the ad, they took a dig at Nike with their “unnecessary” and heavy additions. That’s where they came in with the Nano x4 and how its simple design is more than enough. So now, Nike is back with another bite with the Nike Metcon 1 Banned!
Nike Metcon 1 Banned – The Road to Metcon X!
The Nike Metcon 1 Road to Metcon X Banned (long name, we know) will feature the signature sturdy materials we love. We got the mesh upper with the fitting reinforcement, but it’s the colorway that we love. It comes in the signature Bred color blocking that makes it kinda hard to resist! And we can expect these babies to drop on August 2, 2024, for $150, on Nike.com. So, if you’re ready to take your training to the next level, this shoe is for you!
But let us tell you something. A shoe this cool and popular among athletes is bound to sell out really quickly. And if you wanna have a leg up when it comes to a drop like that (or any cool drop), you’ll need help. Luckily for you, we know a thing or two about sneaker botting. If that sounds like something you’d like to look into, check this out. And if you already know what’s up, then it’s time to get a bot of your own don’t you think? Don’t worry though, because you don’t have to look too far with NSB3, the best all-in-one bot on the market, being a click away. Godspeed!
