The hip-hop scene is in shambles in 2024, and fans are here for it! And the main feuding sides are none other than Kendrick Lamar and Drake. You see, both sides have a huge following in the music industry. And now, both sides have fired shots at each other which resulted in a hip-hop feud that left everyone excited! While we’ll make a pitstop at the feud itself, today we’ll do another kind of Kendrick vs Drake feud breakdown. And the one we have here is all about sneakers, along with a lil idea we thought about to spice things up! So, are you ready to jump into the world of drama, music, and kicks?
Kendrick vs Drake – A Lil Feud Breakdown!
We’re not gonna get into all the details because we could fill a couple of pages of analysis. What you gotta know is that it all started with the song First Person Shooter by Drake featuring J. Cole. The track dropped back in October 2023, and in it, J. Cole referred to himself, Kenny, and Drake as the Big 3! Now, that didn’t sit well with K Dot, who fired back in March 2024 on his feature on Like That. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is where the fire started!
Now, fast forward to April 2024! Drake went back to the studio and gave the crowds Push Ups, and Taylor Made Freestyle. Now, you’d be wrong if you thought that Kendrick would sit back and take it. Because he stepped out with not one, but two back-to-back diss tracks: Euphoria, and 6:16 in LA. The back and forth carried on to Drake replying with Family Matters. But boy, this was when Kenny delivered (according to many) the kill shot, which was Meet the Grahams and Not Like Us! Now, the final drop was by Drake, and that was The Heart Part 6.
From here on, we’ll see how the rest will unfold! After all, the music industry is very happy about this iconic feud since the end product is new music. Who knows? They could eventually kiss and make up, and we’d all be left with the memory of good music! And… is that a really bad thing?
Now… Let’s Talk Kendrick vs Drake in Sneaker Terms!
You know, Drake’s history in the sneaker industry is pretty obvious. His relationship with Nike and Jordan Brand goes back years and years. From the OVO Jordans to the now Nike NOCTA line, Drizzy is working them lifestyle drops. Now, when it comes to Kendrick, his sneaker collab history is not as famous as other artists. And if you’re not a die-hard fan, it’s easy for those collabs to go over your head.
So, when it comes to K Dot, his first collaboration was actually with Reebok! From the Classic to the iconic Club C, these babies are pretty memorable. However, this collab hit its end in 2017, and that’s when Kenny switched to the Swoosh! Now, fast forward to January 2018, and we got the Nike Cortez Kenny 1. Of course, he was an official Nike spokesperson by that point. Next up, we got the Kenny 2, 3, and 4, along with the Nike React Element 55 with his signature. However, we haven’t seen him in a signature shoe since then. You can check out the full collab breakdown right here.
Hear Us Out… What If Adidas Signed Kendrick?
We all know the historical rivalry between Nike and Adidas. But can you imagine what would happen if Adidas jumped at the opportunity to throw shade? Well, this all remains some wishful thinking on our part, knowing that Adidas collabs aren’t solid performers. In fact, the most relevant collaborations they currently have are Anthony Edwards’ and Bad Bunny’s! That’s not too little, but the brand still needs to do more to compete at Nike’s hype level. So, let’s see how the future unfolds and what surprises it brings with it! In the meantime, keep your eye on our blog for the coolest and latest sneaker drops. Godspeed!
